What I Do

PhD, in Telecommunication Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid; MS & BS in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of the Basque Country; MS & BS in Philosophy from the National University for Distance Education, Spain) he is currently a Professor at Madrid Open University, Spain (since 2019), where he is Head of the Telecommunication Engineering Department; Invited Professor at Munich University of Applied Sciences, Germany (since 2011); Honorary Scholar at the University of León, Spain (since 2016); and Researcher at the National University of Santa Elena Peninsula, Ecuador (since 2014).

Since 1996 he has served as a scholar at different academic and research institutions in Europe and America: Researcher at the Technical University of Vienna, Austria (1996); Researcher at the Technical University of Madrid, Spain (1997-2003); Professor at the University Alfonso X, Spain (1997-2009); Invited Professor at the University of Leon, Spain (2010-2011), where he was subsequently Researcher (2011-2016) and Honorary Scholar ever since; Invited Professor at Munich University of Applied Sciences, Germany (since 2011); Researcher at BITrum-Research Group (since 2011); Researcher at the National Secretariat of Science and Technology, SENACYT, Ecuador (2014-2017); Researcher at National University of Santa Elena Peninsula, Ecuador (since 2014); Professor at University Isabel I, Spain (2018). In addition, he has been a Visiting Professor at several universities in Spain, Germany, Austria, Sweden and Ecuador.

He is a board member of the International Society of Information Studies (IS4SI, Austria), the Institute for Design Science (Germany), and the BITrum-Research Group (Spain). He is a Fellow of the Institute for a Global Sustainable Information Society (GSIS, Austria), the International Center for Information Ethics (Germany), and an editorial team member of several scientific publications. His research interests focus on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary methodologies, the general study of systems, and the general study of information and knowledge systems.
