By profession Daniel Boyd is IT Director of a care institution for the elderly, but since studying biology has maintained an interest in academic developments around organisms as complex self-organising systems. His own independent research has lead to the development of a new theory for the nature and function of both biological and technological information systems, Emergent Information Theory. He has published a number of articles on the subject and the first monograph on the subject, “Existing in the Information Dimension”, will be published by Routledge in 2024. After presenting at the Digital Humanism workshop at the 2021 IS4SI Summit, Daniel became more involved in supporting the society and the FIS discussion groups.
