Information is a force in the modern world that forms societies, controls advancement, and unites people in the world today against the backdrop of a fast changing digital age. The International Society for the Study of Information (IS4SI) is at the forefront of such a shift and is promoting an enriching vision of an equitable, ethical information science, which goes beyond the conventional conducts of research and sharing of knowledge.

IS4SI operates on essential core values that prioritize ethical information practices. The organization champions human rights through accessible information, maintains high standards of integrity in research, and promotes inclusivity across all backgrounds. Through responsible practices and interdisciplinary collaboration, IS4SI works to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to information. They have undertaken a work of growth and ethical thinking that places them in the leadership of developing information science for the good of society.

Interdisciplinarity is a reasonable and strongly elaborated perspective to modern problems, which is reflected in the IS4SI’s Ethical Code. It is remarkable that almost all modern challenges in technology or climate, or social interaction cannot be reasonably addressed with a single field approach. This is because, according to the design of the model, IS4SI forces the researcher to rise above narrow strict scholarly fields and come up with a new idea within contexts of various disciplines.

The ethical responsibilities outlined for IS4SI board members, most of which are scientists, and institutional members emphasize the importance of ethical conduct in all aspects of their work. This includes avoiding conflicts of interest, promoting ethical research practices, and ensuring fair and equitable working conditions. By adhering to these responsibilities, IS4SI members contribute to a culture of integrity and respect within the community.

The ethical principles upheld by IS4SI are not just guidelines; they are the pillars that support the foundation of an intelligent society. By promoting human rights, integrity, inclusivity, and responsibility, IS4SI aims to create a world where information is accessible, equitable, and used for the betterment of humanity. In doing so, they set a standard for ethical information practices that can guide us toward a more informed, just, and sustainable future.
